Embracing Thin-Neck Lightsabers with Corvus Saber Foundry
Customization is the key to elevating your lightsaber experience. For many saber enthusiasts, the allure of a thin-neck lightsaber is undeniable. These designs, often reminiscent of iconic hilts from a galaxy far, far away, offer a sleek aesthetic and a distinct handling feel. Corvus Saber Foundry is proud to help you achieve this look with our innovative Thin Neck System, a testament to our dedication to expanding the possibilities of VHC and TXQ modular lightsaber customization.
Aesthetic Enhancements
The pursuit of a thin-neck lightsaber often originates from a desire to replicate the elegant weapons wielded by legendary Jedi like Obi-Wan Kenobi. These designs, characterized by a narrow section between the emitter and the main body of the hilt, offer a unique visual appeal and, for some, a more nuanced grip. As the saber community has developed, desire for more thin-neck options has increased, and there are now many examples around the community!
We take great pride in offering the most option oriented Thin-Neck modular system available in the VHC market. Much like other Thin-neck systems, ours is composed of three components: a base, a neck insert sandwiched by another base. That's where the similarities end:
- Thin-neck Base. Our bases come in two thread variations: male and female. That means what ever thread your saber terminates at we can put a thin neck on it and have it look the way you want.
-
Thin-neck Inserts. Our inserts set the standard for functional design in two ways. a.) They exhibit the same standard thread on both ends eliminating usage limits and simplifying our design process. b.) Asymmetric Design - Combined with the standard threading feature, our asymmetric insert designs allow inserts to be used multiple ways and in various combinations. Just give it a flip and you have a new look!
Here's the best part-- these design choices allow users unparalleled optionality. Given a standard Male Base, Female Base, and Insert, users will have four visual combinations from which to choose. Add another neck, that expands to eight. If you purchased a full selection of parts, you would have 24 possible unique combinations at your disposal. No other VHC Thin-neck system offers this depth of play with such variety of parts optionality.
Design Improvements
The delicate nature of a thin-neck traditionally presents a challenge for durability and internal component housing. This is where the Corvus Saber Foundry Thin Neck System shines. It's designed to bring the iconic thin-neck aesthetic to your Nexus/LGT and TXQ modular hilt without compromising structural integrity or functionality. Our Alloy Thin-neck system tackles three problems counting against current VHC thin neck offerings.
- Thread depth. Our Alloy Thin-neck offers 6mm of thread depth at the Thin-neck adapter and insert interface. A 200% increase over competitor thread depth.
- Wall thickness. Our Alloy Thin-neck inserts offer a wall thickness 33% thicker than competitor offerings.
- Friction Chamfer. The friction chamfer is a small angled area of the connection fitting. This chamfer provides the perfect seat and security of connections between the Base and Insert.
Our system allows you to achieve that coveted slim profile while still accommodating the necessary electronics for a fully functional saber. Beyond mere aesthetics, a well-designed thin neck can subtly influence your saber's balance and handling, offering a different pivot point and feel for intricate saber forms. Imagine the precision and grace you can achieve with a hilt that feels like an extension of your hand. This customer-submitted design from Shadewalker Workshop perfectly demonstrates the elegant lines achievable with our Thin Neck System combined with other CSF components!
Simple Integration
Installing our Thin Neck System is designed to be as straightforward as possible, allowing you to quickly transform your hilt. It's fully compatible with Nexus/LGT systems and integrates directly into your existing modular setup. A word of note, like many thin-neck solutions on the market, you will require specific chassis solutions. Our system aims for a user-friendly experience and integrates well within the current VHC paradigm. Here’s a very general guide to integrating a thin neck into your build:
- Disassemble your hilt: Carefully unscrew the emitter and any other components that will be replaced by or directly connect to the thin neck section.
- Prepare your chassis (if applicable): Depending on your specific electronics and thin-neck component, you may need to ensure your chassis is compatible or make minor adjustments to allow for the narrower opening.
- Install the Thin Neck component: Screw the thin-neck section into your main hilt body. Ensure it’s securely tightened, but don't overtighten.
- Attach the emitter: Finally, screw your desired emitter onto the thin-neck section.
- Test your electronics: Before fully reassembling, it’s always a good idea to power on your saber and ensure all functions are working correctly.
The beauty of a modular system, combined with our carefully engineered components, means you can experiment and find the perfect balance between form and function for your thin-neck creation.
